7/26/2023 0 Comments Yoink vs dropover![]() ![]() Duplicate gives you the option to “update” the original file to match the new one before closing, which can be messy and confusing, IMHO. I constantly use the Option + Duplicate to get the Save As… option.īonus: Using Duplicate and Save As… does give slightly different “outcomes” as to how the file is saved and what happens with the original file. Rarely do I use the Duplicate function in the File Menu for Apple’s apps. Yeah, I think the shake to appear option in Dropover is a large feature for me compared to Yoink that just assumes you need it every time. Monterey will only show Recent Places that the active application has used (not a recent place that may have been used by other applications). Directly navigation to a destination folder is way easier in windows (personal opinion). Yoink is tightly integrated with macOS, so aside from drag and drop, the app offers system services, a Quick Action, a Share extension, Handoff and Continuity Camera integration, can be used with the Terminal and Automator, and can keep a history of your clipboard. Popular Mac drag-and-drop app Yoink received a substantial update on Monday that brings back a much-improved Yoink clipboard history widget with several highly configurable features. Monterey can do some of it, but not as well as SB. Definitely not the same but eventually it helps you. Old memory: I still miss Super Boomerang (last century?) which worked in with the Open & Save dialogue boxes especially for quickly locating a recent folder or file and also replacing an existing file with the same name. ![]() Previously I was unsure of how wide the “active” area was on a toolbar. Dropover uses the keychain to securely store the obtained tokens if you link services such as Dropbox, Google Drive etc. Tip: I’ve also turned on “Show toolbar button shapes”, simply because it defines an area I can click into without having to activate a button if I was just wanting to move a Finder window. An absolute gem of a find! I was getting frustrated with the slow “hover” workaround. ![]()
